PILP Sends Letter to Dauphin County Prison Regarding Mail on Tablets

Advocacy Alerts.png

The Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project sent a letter to Dauphin County Prison officials expressing strong concerns about plans to change mail operations at Dauphin County Prison. PILPS primary concerns relate to the new digital mail scheme. Communication between incarcerated people and their families and friends is critical in maintaining important relationships and paving a path for successful reentry. A core part of that communication is traditional mail through the United States Postal Service. While in jail, mail plays a far more significant role than in the general community, and physical letters and cards provide valuable support and meaning for those who are incarcerated.
